A couple of weeks ago, I came home from work and tried to open my front door. I inserted the key into the lock, just like I would normally do every day, and when I turned the key, I heard a loud click. At first I thought the key had broken off in the lock, but the key was still intact. Somehow, I had a front door lock broken in Brisbane, and I needed some way to get inside my home. Luckily I had my phone with me, so I was able to look up a good locksmith in the area and have them come to my home.

The locksmith came quickly and used his tools to get the door open. The lock had to be replaced since it wasn’t in working order anymore. He put a new one in and gave me a new set of keys to go along with it. This left me with a set of keys that I couldn’t really use for anything else, because the lock that they went with was no longer functioning. I thought about throwing them away, but I came up with a better use for them.

I had a machine in my home that could be used to shape metal, so I used it to grind the keys down to look like screwdriver heads, and then I put them on my key chain. Now wherever I go, I will have two screwdrivers, one flat head and one Phillips, that I can use if the occasion arises. Usually when I’m away from home and need to use a screwdriver, I don’t have one with me, so I have to improvise by finding some kind of blunt metal object that is small enough to fit into a screw. Now I have something that is just a perfect fit.
